A-WOW IGLI is a not-for- profit organization established to help develop personal leadership awareness, skill development and prepares girls, ages 16-21, to assume active leadership roles throughout the world. community and society. We provide innovative learning opportunities, training and leadership development through expert experiences, and education of a higher quality.

Our aim is to educate, empower and enrich without regard of social, religious or ethnic backgrounds. Our mission is to educate, mentor and coach while providing girls and young women with leadership abilities and knowledge as they ready themselves to shape the future world – a world of strong and courageous leaders

A-WOW IGLI Annual Spring and Summer Ambassador Leadership and Development Institute is designed to assist girls and young women ages, 16-21 to develop globally-minded leadership skills and gain a rich understanding of diverse cultures. Theses individual desire to become a catalyst for change by participating in A-WOW IGLI Ambassador Leadership and Development Institute. Each session covers a two-month span of personal mentoring, coaching, training and development. Selected candidates will spend time learning and developing leadership and interpersonal skills. The programs consist of orientation, registration, class assignments, pre/post- assessments, community service, as well as networking and group projects.

The Institute learning objectives

A-WOW IGLI wants to be intentional about what our Ambassador Leaders take away from their leadership experiences in our programs. Our objectives are to ensure participants will gain leadership knowledge, enhance intrapersonal skills, experience civic engagement and learn practical skills.

As a A-WOW Ambassador Leader, you will:

Learn and explore personal values. Build confidence and motivate individuals to become active leaders involved in promoting positive change. Develop a belief in yourself and a sense of confidence in your ideas. Confidence will allow you to be open to challenges without feeling intimidated. Learn risk-management and will understand and become comfortable taking risks. Learn that leadership is more than holding a position and that we are all leaders and can serve. Maintain a sense of personal balance by exploring and discovering your needs. Develop awareness and understanding of the challenges youth are facing locally, nationally and globally. Learn, understand and experience diverse cultures and cross-cultural communication. Develop creative, globally-minded leadership skills and gain an understanding of privilege and oppression. Be able to integrate your lived experiences into your leadership development process. Develop critical thinking and team building skills. Get a chance to directly impact your local community or school. Learn college and job readiness skills, how to effectively prepare for college entrance, job interview and resume. Engage with the greater Dallas community as a means to explore one’s civic responsibility as a leader. Learn humanitarian values, such as being committed to social justice, engaging in social responsibility, and serving as positive social change agents.

The program is a starting point for girls and young women, who have shown leadership and initiative in their school, universities, communities or organizations, but have had rare opportunities to develop those skills.

Prerequisites (all candidates should demonstrate)

. Personal interest and commitment to help improve the community & quality of life through past, present and future activities.
. A willingness to commit the time and energy necessary to complete the program requirements, which requires the full support of their sponsoring business or organization.
. Each candidate may request sponsorship from a respective business or organization that is willing to commit to the requirements of the program.
. Collaborate with universities, schools, employers & sponsoring organizations & help identify potential areas to form strategic alliances.
. The identified candidates should be ones who are most likely to utilize their leadership abilities for the long-term benefit of society.
. All successful Ambassador Leaders receive an A-WOW IGLI Certification of Completion for Leadership and Development and receive an invitation to A-WOW IGLI Annual World Summit. .Ambassadors also attend a retreat in October and a graduation ceremony - gala in August.
